Project Save Our Surf Makes A Big Splash!

Tanna's Birthday Cake

Wow! Cool things are happening as Tanna Frederick and the Project Save Our Surf crew gear up for Surf24 in October. The latest thing was Tanna’s birthday party/Project Save Our Surf fundraiser at Fred Segal in Santa Monica.

This was my first time at Fred Segal – a very cool place with numerous vendors inside a 2-building complex. One of them ZeroMinusPlus, was the attraction. There were munchies, drinks, they had a DJ playing music and a big crowd showed up. Fred Segal hosted this event as part of Ocean Awareness Month.

But here’s the coolest part – Tanna requested that people not buy her presents, instead, she asked them to spend money at Fred Segal, buy themselves a gift and a portion of the proceeds would go to Project Save Our Surf. There is now beautiful Project Save Our Surf jewelry line created by Frasier Sterling. Now that’s a cool idea. How many birthday parties have you been to where you bought yourself a present? That was very clever on Tanna’s part.

And she looked gorgeous! Fabulous dress! Henry Jaglom was there, of course. I also saw the cast of Sylvia (Cathy Arden, Stephen Howard, Ron Vignone and director Gary Imhoff) and most of the cast from Just 45 Minutes From Broadway (Harriet Schock, Jack Heller, Diane Louise Salinger and Julie Davis). Michelle Danner and Alexandra Guarnieri from the Edgemar were there as well as some other luminaries such as Judd Nelson, FX Feeney and Rosanna Arquette. It was a great event and I heard that there will be more events leading up to the big Surf24 event in October.

Here are a few links so you can see what it was like:
