What is She Wearing?

You’ve watched the Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammys, Emmys, etc. You’ve seen all sorts of gowns, some gorgeous, some ugly, some bizarre. And all of them probably cost a gazillion dollars. I’ve seen some gowns where I wondered what was that designer was smoking when he or she came up with that! I won’t name names. I’ll leave that to Joan Rivers.

I’ve seen photos of Tanna Frederick from various movie premieres and play openings and she seems to consistently pick gowns in the gorgeous catgory. The wildest thing I’ve seen her in is the gown she wore to a Project Save Our Surf fundraiser. I call it her mermaid dress. It was made out of recycled paper, put together in a way that looked like large scales – pretty ones! It was actually beautiful.

So you’ve got to see this! A guy named Fred Landau did a video of some of the 2010-2011 Hollywood gowns. He wrote a parody of Harriet Schock’s song Hollywood Town and uses it as background music. Tanna Frederick is in there a few times.

And here’s the original Hollywood Town song sung by Harriet Schock. It was also covered by Manfred Mann.

Enjoy!

  1. Lol! I just wish the camera had stayed on he gowns a little longer. Tanna Frederick’s gowns are beauiful. Even the ” mermaid” gown was cool.

  2. My question is how can women walk in those shoes they wear? They must be in agonizing pain by the end of the night. Or is being there such a thrill that the pain is minimized?

  3. Hi, I’m the guy who wrote the Hollywood Gown parody lyric and who put together that video. Thanks so much to the person who posted this here. I really appreciate it!

  4. Hello, I’m the writer of the original song, “Hollywood TOWN.” I liked how Fred Landau parodied it and used Tanna Frederick’s gowns. I have a cameo appearance! Like Alfred Hitchcock…
